4 Days / 3 Nights Itinerary (AM arrival – Afternoon departure)
Yangon – Taungoo – Elephant camp – Yangon
Day 1 Yangon – Taungoo
After breakfast, drive to Taungoo(±8h driving), through Bago division. Upon your arrival to Taungoo, free exploration of this second prouder dynasty in the 16th century. Visit Shwesandaw Pagoda, built in 1597 with many interesting pavilions in the pagoda compound and Myasigon Pagoda, situate a huge, bronze sitting Buddha image. Over night at Taungoo.
Day 2 Elephant Camp
Leave from Taungoo in the morning about 8:oo am and off-road driving(3h) to elephant camp. Have lunch and drive to Karan village (1h) and study old Karen tradition and learn how they have to struggle to survive in the jungle. Drive back to the camp and overnight at the camp (real working camps)
Day 3 Elephant Camp – Taungoo
Get up early morning and follow the elephant master ( OoZi ) to chase his elephant which was freed in to the jungle for the whole night and learn how elephants are working for the logging process. Have lunch and drive bck to Taungoo in the afternoon. Over night at hotel.
Day 4 Taungoo – Yangon
Drive back to Yangon along the way stop at some villages to study the daily life of the people in the rural area. Visit Bago and it lively market with varieties of vegetables, flower and commodity goods, the Shwethalyaung Pagoda (Reclining Buddha) and the Shwemawdaw Pagoda. Then, a short excursion to Taukkyant War Cemetery (a memorial to Allied soldiers from the British Commonwealth during the Second World War. Arrive Yangon in the evening.
